First Video of the Year!
Kicking off a brand-new year on YouTube with something wild—my very first visit to Gatorland! Can you believe that in over thirty years of living in Florida, I had never been? This summer, I finally went with the family, and we had such a blast. Later in the season, when Gatorland rolled out their Florida resident special (about half-off admission), I knew it was the perfect chance to head back and film a video for the channel.
If you’re curious, this discount pops up a couple of times a year—$17.50 for adults and seniors, $12.50 for kids—definitely worth keeping an eye out for.
What made the day unforgettable was Florida’s unpredictable weather. A perfectly sunny morning flipped into a full-on storm, and I thought for sure the shows would be canceled. I was wrong! Gatorland delivered in true Florida fashion. The Gator Jumparoo Show went on in the pouring rain, with lightning flashing in the distance—it was wild to watch. Then came Alligators: Legends of the Swamp, staged on a sand-covered arena that had turned into a small lake. The crew was out there pumping water off the stage, and like clockwork, the show still started right on time. Having worked at a theme park before, I was seriously impressed. Big shoutout to the Gatorland staff and performers for making it happen.
Check out the full video for all the action, and I hope you enjoyed the extra behind-the-scenes look (and the photos above)!
